How we review software
FieldCrewTools reviews software for small home-service businesses: cleaning, lawn care, pressure washing, detailing, pest control, handyman and similar trades. Here's exactly how our pages are made.
What we check
- Prices, from the vendor's own pricing page. Every pricing table links to its source and shows the date we last checked it. We record month-to-month, annual and promotional prices separately, because the difference is often the biggest surprise for buyers.
- Plan-level features. We note which plan unlocks each feature, since "has job costing" means little if it's only on a $300/mo tier.
- Owner feedback. We read public reviews and owner discussions on sites like Capterra, G2, Reddit and trade forums. We link to them, and we treat single anecdotes as anecdotes.
- Fit by crew size and trade. Our recommendations are framed as "good fit if" and "skip it if", not universal rankings.
Research vs hands-on
Every review states its basis at the top. Research-based pages rely on official pricing, documentation and owner feedback. Hands-on pages also draw on our own use of a trial account, with screenshots from it. We never describe testing we haven't done.
Keeping prices current
We check vendor pricing pages on a regular schedule and update our tables when something changes. Where a vendor blocks automated checks, we verify by hand. If you spot an out-of-date price, tell us and we'll fix it.
How money works here
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you sign up through them, the vendor may pay us a commission at no cost to you. Commissions differ between vendors, and some of the products we cover pay us nothing. Commission rates never decide a ranking or a verdict. Details are on our affiliate disclosure page.
Calculators
Our pricing calculators use published market-rate data, cited on each page. Any adjustment that's our own assumption rather than sourced data is labeled that way, and you can change it.
